Butterfly Walk 2022 Report

Though condition were quite good, mostly sunny with light winds and 88 degrees, there were few butterdlies to be seen. The butterfly enthusiast present reported that it has been a bad year across the region, perhaps due the long, cool spring followed by a hot, dry summer? Nonetheless, we did see thirteen species, though many were just one individual of the species seen by only one or two participants. perhaps our continued work to improve and expand the native prairie will create better habitiat and result in more butterflies in the future. We encourage you to join FORP and help our work to improve this valuable natural resource.
