Scout Hollow Nature Trail

Scout Hollow Nature Trail

  1. Trailhead Location: 9562 Spinoza Drive (between West Chicago and Orangelawn). GPS Coordinates: 42.364617, -83.250156
  2. Mileage:⅔ mile
  3. Type of Trail: One-way (3+mile loop once trail restoration is completed)
  4. Key things to look out for: steps, bridges, Phil Crookshank Memorial Bench, 100 yr.old upland pine forest, view of wetland with irises that bloom in late spring/early summer
  5. Best times to visit: Year-round, rarely floods. Only in major floods (2 or more inches of rain)
  6. Accessibility: Many steps and steep areas, not accessible for people with disabilities.
  7. History: developed along with Scout Hollow Campground in the 1930s. It once was full loop that had trail connections to Joe Prance Day Camp and the Brennan Pools that need restoration. Once restored, it will connect to the Lahser Marsh as well.
