THE BUFFALO SOLDIERS HERITAGE ASSOCIATION
The Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Association maintains the heritage barn, about a dozen horses, offers rides to the public, and is open to hosting special events and parties. On the corner of Joy Rd. and Lahser Rd., this is a great place to ride horses and learn about the historic Buffalo Soldiers.
Check out the Buffalo Soldiers Facebook page and website to stay up-to-date on their hours and events, and look out for Friends of Rouge Park's annual Buffalo Soldiers and Blues Freedom Festival here every September!
Camp Casey, an organization that provides free horseback riding programs to children with cancer, sickle cell disease, and other life-threatening diseases, operates out of this barn as well. Learn more about their organization here.
