Park Stewards Program

The Park Stewards Program provides an opportunity for people to directly engage in the care and improvement of Rouge Park. Community support is critical to maintaining and sustaining this important public resource. Stewardship is also a great way to connect with other people who share your love of Rouge Park while engaging in activities that enhance the quality of life for all residents: human, plant and animal. By becoming a steward, you will help ensure that Rouge Park is cared for and kept healthy and beautiful for generations to come.

Park Steward Roles

  • Adopt a recreation area, or roadside area, to pick up trash, right overturned garbage cans and report issues
  • Adopt a natural area to do volunteer work and monitor for problems
  • Monitor nature trails for fallen trees, invasive plants and trash
  • Lead or assist with nature walks and programs
  • Organize volunteer work days with other stewards and assist with large volunteer work events
