Purple Loosestrife Pull
Saturday, September 11th,  9-11am

Prairie Pathway - North Entrance (map)

Join us to pull the invasive patches of Purple Loosestrife along the Prairie Pathway Nature Trail. This is a non-native invasive species that spreads viciously in wetlands, aggressively outcompeting native flora. Please wear bug spray and long pants!

Detroit "Out Loud"
Come Join Quicken Loans Community Fund as they Host Detroit "Out Loud" festival! This is a Free family friendly event open for
Event Date: Saturday, July 20th
Location: Rouge Park, Amphitheater area (near Archery + Buffalo Soldiers Stables)
Time: 8am- until (TBA)
Event Purpose: A celebration of Detroit, it’s residents and neighborhoods. This will also be an unofficial kick-off to Detroit’s birthday, July 24th. Presenting Sponsor: Quicken Loans Community Fund

Join the Friends of Rouge Park at the historic Brennan Pools Building for our Annual Membership Meeting. Come for food and fellowship 6:00-6:30pm followed by the meeting 6:30-7:30 pm. Celebrate all we have accomplished together in 2019, honor Best Friends and Partners of Rouge Park and hear about plans for the coming year. We will also be holding our annual board elections. Please register here so we know how many meals to order. Donations appreciated. Non-members are encouraged to join our organization here. Homemade desserts are welcome, but not required.

Thanks to a partnership between the Sierra Club's Detroit Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO), the YMCA, Kresge Foundation and the City of Detroit Parks & Recreation, youth camping is returning to Scout Hollow this year. 

​If you have a youth group interested in camping in Rouge Park, Detroit ICO will be offering training for camp leaders and camping equipment to borrow.  More information is available here: detroitoutdoors.org

Sorensen Promenade could use some volunteer love! Come join Friends of Rouge Park as we clean up this trail and restore the stairs. Trail work can be messy so please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and work gloves, along with anything else you think you may need.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day by helping to clean up Rouge Park; part of the Great Global Cleanup.

Join us in clearing brush or debris that accumulated over the Winter months and making the trail beautiful and ready to use for the 2020 season. Please wear sturdy shoes and long pants.

Celebrate National Trails Day by Volunteering at the Rouge Park Prairie Trail! In honor of National Trails Day, Friends of Rouge Park is hosting a stewardship day at the Prairie Trail. Join us as we combat invasive plants along the trail, clear the path from any overgrowth, and complete general stewardship tasks to make the prairie trail nice and beautiful!
